Art, Photos, Music, some thoughts…
These are the pieces I worked on while on medical leave from my previous job from the end of March and all through April. I started a new position a week ago doing something totally different. It’s for half the pay and in a warehouse environment, but I think I’m where I need to be for the time being. A job is a job and so far no one is mistreating me. As for the art, I allowed myself to be messy to see where new ideas would take me. I got the spark I needed.
The latest batch of shirts I dyed last month. Most have been given away now, but I have enough supplies left to try another few if I get the energy one day before summer is out. We’ll see.
Accidentally dropped this mirror trying to move it to a new spot. I picked up the larger shards and decided it needed a second life anyway. Painted the frame from black to blue and I used the same marker / coffee filter paper sheets for the background as I do with my flowers.
The rest of the coffee filter flowers I completed a few weeks ago.
I’ve been experimenting. These are repurposed coffee filters I colored with watercolor markers and folded into flowers. Each one turns out differently and I love the surprise.
Another tie-dye shirt. Long sleeve this time.
I’ve never made a collage with Photoshop before, so today I googled how and made a collage with some of the pop-up flower cards I made and recently mailed out. I have more photos of other card designs so I will make another, better one, but this was fun. By the way, I make so many of these cards that I send them at random now. If anyone viewing this wants one, shoot me a message where I can mail to.
Today is my birthday and for my 30th I wanted to release an album I know I challenged myself to write and could be proud of. I am not disappointed and feel at peace with the best work I’ve done so far.

A collage of tissue paper, an old cut up art print, fabric / lace and pastel coloring.
All in order from top left to the right across, the last being a self portrait (the center one is my mother back in the day). I started this back in the summer and finished last week, finally. I don’t want it to be said that all I did was abstract art. Now that’s put to rest. Prints are up as well at my zazzle shop Among the Ashes. If I had enough money I’d open a real poster shop. I’ll keep dreaming.
